How convenient that I’ve find the inspiration to blog at 12:04am the night before my two writing assignments for Experiential Learning are due. But I figure if I don’t start now, I’ll never have this CP recorded. So here I am, sitting with my rubrics and writing about how I’m not writing about my volunteerism. Oh Kristie. Kristie, Kristie, Kristie
I’ve made a reservation for myself for tomorrow morning at 11 for Kona Café. I’m not yet sure whether I’ll be making or not.
So I just loaded my saved draft from lj, and noticed that I once intended to discuss Hernan. For a moment, I was drawing a blank, thinking, “Who‘s Hernan?!?” This is why you need to record your life, Kristie!
Jackibutson’s MK shift’s been extended till 3am. Just saying.

A man set a $5 tip is front of my today for making him a reservation!!! The first time I've ever been offered a tip... I wish I knew his name. When I wouldn't accept, he told me he'd buy me a lottery ticket and send any winnings to Shasta College, hahaha. <3
I'm not sure if I like stocking or I don't like stocking. People are weird.
Or being last guest or not being last guest.
At some point I need to discuss Hernan, LOL.

Mom just said we'll likely go to the Giant Orange for breakfast. I've no clue what that is, but I'm told I've been there!
Naturally, I automatically pictured the Orange Stinger at DCA! :D
Mom says it's off I5, and I looked it up, and Joe's Giant Orange is in Lake Shasta. Anything named after an orange sounds good to me, but if it's not shaped like a giant orange, I'll be heartbroken. Really.
Hmm, or maybe it's like James and the Giant Peach!!

YEAR-2-THOUSAND-8, YEAR-2-0-0-8, WHICH?
This is gonna drive me crazy, haha. It's hard to do searches for years!
Also, it's raining! We're going to see Australia, so I'm really hoping it's good!
Roxy: sounds like a horrid movie
Roxy: based on what I know about it
Roxy: which is the title and 2 of the actors

Update: Yay, I found something through searching for "year 2 thousand 8" on Lifeprint!
"When you sign numbers, you do them quite similar to the way you say them in English. For example: If you are signing "1997," you sign "19" then "97."... The jury is still out on years like 2000 and up. Most people seem to be doing the individual numbers while sliding the hand slightly to the right. For example showing a two-zero-zero-zero for the year 2000. So THAT is the way I recommend you sign the years 2000-2009. (BUT I have time and time again observed native Deaf ASL signers using the "thousand" sign as part of the sign for years 2000 and up.)"

Wow, it's amazing how many talk shows those KFC girls are being discussed on... can't escape it! Which KFC is it, and why don't I know? And how were you the last to hear about this, Rox? :P
Anyway, time for better, happy news! I'm finally done with my final ECE 2 assignment!! For a 5-pointer, that took forever. Shasta County could use for agencies, perhaps. Make my life easier. But I'm done! :D Now I can focus all my time on studying for my Human Dev. final. And Disney.

Lab was a lot of fun tonight -- as it's meant to be!
We wore name tag necklaces backwards, so we each had the name of a famous person on our backs. We had to gesture to each other -- no signs! -- for 5 minutes to try and help each other guess our identities, and then we were allowed to sign.
I was Albert Einstein -- fitting, yeah? ;) Clearly, Yvette put lots of thought into the identity assignments. I guessed my identity with one gesture from Rox! She was Long John Silver -- again, lots of thought -- which was more difficult to get across. I was gesturing about eating chicken, and she later asked me if Long John Silver was a dog-eating pirate... but she did get it in the signing round! Yay for language.
Next, we got to make name tags ourselves and swap them with a classmate. I wrote Kermit the Frog on a name tag (&hearts) and when I was told to trade with Mike, I became Michael Jordan.
Cristy gestured to me about basketball, and I thought she was trying to guess her own! *facepalm* She was Fred Flinstone, so I thought she was misinterpreting what someone had told her about rocks. She immediately got her identity when I pretended to use a steering wheel and run. Before that idea, I'd no idea how to help her! Showing her that she was male like Kevin and wore a spotted dress with an uneven seam did not help the original confusion, haha.
Cheryl put her hands into paws and started hopping like a bunny to try to help Mike guess. Hmm.
Anyway, Rox got me to guess Michael Jordan when she pretended to play with a basketball and then pointed to her shoe, lol. Thanks Rox!
Roxy gave someone Walt Disney (and became John Wayne.) We are so predictable, at least to each other. We later overheard that they found that hard to communicate through gestures. Sounds fun to me, haha!
After class, my story group stayed late to practice Sleeping Beauty. It's still too long, but I think it's going to be great! Just got to work on my expression, I think.
I wish ASL class was like that more often! &hearts

Wow, I cannot believe how close we are to moving in. It really doesn't feel like December! Well, it did seem to be much colder today!

Our group had to rehearse Sleeping Beauty in front of a Deaf woman the night before last. It went rather well, considering we hadn't practiced as a group yet. It's nice not having to perform a 5 minute story all alone. The woman says I could use just a little more expression, which is about the best feedback on my expression I can get, haha. We're really working on condensing our script now. We hit the 5 minute point at as we were about half-way through, and most of my lines are in the second half. How that happens when I should be sleeping, I'm not sure... I really need to look that script over before lab starts tonight.

Discussion Topic 2: What are the hidden messages in fairy tales? Pick a fairy tale (Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, Beauty and the Beast, etc.) and:
- Analyze it for the portrayal of certain values - beauty, wealth, aggrressiveness, status
- Analyze it for the portrayal of role - gender, ethnicity, age
- Citing certain developmental abilities, discuss possible beneficial and/or harmful effects of fairy tales on children.
I'm writing about Beauty and the Beast. BatB isn't terribly harmful to children, right? :( Not in my post, it isn't!
This is going to be a very long post.

We went to a play at Riverfront tonight, and I was told I was too young for beer. I was trying to order a hot chocolate, and the woman was listing off my options: "soda, coffee, beer-- oh, well except for you, of course, as you're too young... er, you are too young, right?"
Ah, to be 20 again. Being underage prevented such discussions. :D But at least she hesitated!

Well, I found this out on Saturday the 8th, so it's not exactly news to me. Nonetheless, yay!!! It took exactly 30 days, yet I wasn't too bothered by the long wait. Hmm.
Isn't the acceptance packet thinner this year? When Dad handed it to me, I thought, 'it's not supposed to be this thin!' Last year, I'm pretty sure the folder was better, more like the $1-$2 ones you buy for school. This one's kinda flimsy. Not that I'm complainingtoo much!
I got FSFB!!! I'm finding that getting 1st choice is an improvement over 4th choice, lol. Last year, I was all "...Wait, what? Attractions?!?" No regrets though; my job was brilliant. Hopefully this one will be too!

I really ought to be doing my ECE 4 homework. I have to write about how, as a teacher, I would promote physical fitness in my classroom (DAP, of course), to discourage the obesity epidemic. Really, it's just making me was one of these so-called "brain breaks." They're not just for kids!
Normally I love writing about these articles, but right now it's just eh. Maybe I shouldn't be a PE teacher after all. :P But I just feel like I don't need to learn from this; it all seems so simple.
Is my Disney acceptance folder here yet? It's been 3 days!
Also, 6 days till Saturday? Surreal.

I had a long shift today -- 9-6:30, but it went by fairly fast, especially since I got to be with Dana a lot, and with Dave too. The Dream Squad came twice in a row -- once with dream fast passes, and then another time with YoaMD hats! Tomorrow I don't work until 10:15! While still too early, I get to sleep an hour longer than this morning, and I get off at 4:45, so I might go to Downtown Disney. And shop, naturally.
I took my ASL proficiency assessment yesterday, and passed! It was a lot of fun, and I wish it had lasted longer. Mark Jones, my assessor, was awesome! He said he skipped over a lot of the assessment because I was proficient enough, but I loved the practice! Now I need to find a manager and get their full name and inter-office address, so my name tag can be mailed to them. Hopefully they'll order it now regardless though!
I skipped the 6:47 bus and went shopping for half an hour after work, and I spent about $7 at Katie's store. Then I hurried to the 7:15 bus and met Dana for the drive home.
Katie's just now heading to bed, so I'll call home from the balcony.

Yesterday (or really, last night), we had Extra Magic Hours at Studios from 7-10 (not too bad!), and I had a closing shift from 4:30-10:30 with Unai (yay!) and Harold (eh).
Ricardo came around to help out, because Dana needed her bump out. Another man was sitting at the computer, and I soon realized that he and I had met, and that <i>this</i> was the infamous AJ everyone's been talking about! Next Friday is his going away party, and I already assured Suzana I'd give her that day, so I might have to figure out when a good time would be to stop by. On Thursday, I might see if there's more room on his card, as I didn't say much on it, because I didn't realize I'd met him. Now I remember. Whoops! He's great, really seems to care, and the women here say he's been our manager the longest. I'll miss him!
As I was closing theater last night, and after I made the call to say that Muppets was clear of guests, I accidentally muted the show before I paused it. I was planning to confirm with Unai that I could just easily unmute, pause it, and mute it again, but some guy (who was there to have me sign that I closed Theater) came over and said, "Oh, you didn't pause it yet!" and hit pause... So we had to play the movie through one more time. (I'm not even sure if this necessary, as I get mixed answers. It's standard procedure, so it's what we do.) But it turned out to be fun! Unai's been perfecting his Muppet impressions, so he dubbed the movie using the microphone, and when the bubble machine came on during Miss Piggy's musical number (Unai asked if I'd like to take over for that part. I politely declined. But only 'cause Miss Piggy is supposed to be voiced by a man, of course.). Instead, I got to run through the rows of seats and pop the bubbles! Normally I sit in the back, and I'm lucky if one bubble comes to me.

On Wednesday, Thao and I both had days off, so we went to Company D and then took the tunnels (my first time!) to Main Street at the Magic Kingdom. We got a great picture with Suzy and Perla from Cinderella, and came close to getting pictures with Cinderella and Charming. I wish more character attendants would warn long lines of people when characters will be departing; it's really not fair to the guests. On the bright side, I got this neat picture of the couple walking back up to the castle! ♥

We went on Space Mountain a couple times (our fast passes got us nowhere, haha), and we went to Captain Cooks at the Polynesian. Getting hot chocolate before hopping on the monorail is quickly becoming a favorite tradition!
On Thursday, we went to Walmart. Not the best day for that though, as I soon realized it was payday. The bus rides made for an interesting experience, and one trip involved me havin a box of Dr. Pepper cans under me (not my own) and my pack of paper towels somewhere in the middle of the aisle, but at least I got a seat on the ride home!
Today I got to do PAC again! (Toni was assigned it, but as she's done it before too -- what, several years ago? -- and didn't want to, so I swapped greeter for it.) I was the only one from Muppets, and audience control didn't go as smoothly as yesterday, when Dana, Dave, and I handled it. Teamwork definitely helps, and it makes PAC more fun.
My PAC duties didn't last long, as I had bumped Dana to break after she started, and then Dave came out and bumped me to lunch mid-parade. I did get to see Sweetums, Miss Piggy, and Kermit though! And Little Bo Peep (?) from Toy Story came up to me and waved! I talked to a young boy (of about 6) and his mother, who were visiting from New Jersey, while they waited in advance for the parade, which was cool.
I only worked from 10:15 to 17:15, which was quite lovely, as I was originally scheduled to work until 19:30 for closing, but I had swapped shifts with Unai! After work, I took Guest Bus 12 to the Polynesian. On the way there, I sat by a woman and her adorable daughter, who was about 3 years old and grinned the entire way to the Contemporary (they planned to take the monorail to MK from there). I really need to get stickers to hand out to the sweet kids I meet. At Captain Cooks, I discussed Muppets with the CP at the cash register. My sandwich was cold time, oddly -- they ususally heat them. At least my free hot chocolate was warm as I took the resort monorail to the Magic Kingdom!
I shopped around Main Street, but didn't go any farther; MK was busy tonight! I didn't buy anything, but I did spend a lot of time exploring the Art Gallery. There's a $400 framed metallic Alice in Wonderland painting, and it's a limited edition of 20! The cast members working there couldn't figure out <i>why</i> it's so cheap, or much of anything on it, really. I got quite attached to the painting while there, haha. One of the CMs there did the CP last spring, I believe, and moved down here full time, and we talked while the other CM tried to figure out more about the Alice painting.
I didn't have a bus schedule with me, and my cell phone was off anyway as it was dying, so I ended up waiting awhile for the bus home. But I am getting more confident that I'll spot the bus when it comes! I'd actually made every monorail today with perfect timing! So the (21:05) bus was the only thing I had to wait for!
All in all, it was a pretty good day.
Things I forgot to mention:
A guy and his girlfriend ran into the theater from the exit in a desperate search for their lost cigarettes. Pretty sad. They never found them, so hopefully they were picked up by a reliable adult...
It's annoying when someone is sitting inside the theater as the show is starting, and calls me over to ask if I could let the rest of their party in. And then I agree to let them through the exit. And then I wait. And no one ever comes. People really can't comprehend that sending someone in to "save seats" doesn't work at Muppets. :/
(<--Future pic from Unai's last night at MK in April -- featuring Philhar glasses!)
Sometimes we find 3D glasses from different shows around the resort (and city) in the glasses containers. Do people feel guilty or what? And other times we come across children's prescription glasses. They're typically claimed, so I guess it's alright that I find that so amusing.
